Wolverine #66

"Wolverine's All-Time Greatest Adventure Begins Here!"
This is how the cover of Wolverine #66 describes part 1 of Old Man Logan. I would describe it more probably like the all-time most boring Wolverine comic. We jump 50 years to the future, where with little explanation of what's going on, we find Wolverine, a poor dirt farmer in California, and his down-trodden family trying to find out how to pay their bills.
I was particularly excited when I flipped through this comic at the store, but when I got it home and read it a little more carefully, I had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the storyline seems like an interesting idea, but this particular comic and its Hillbilly Hulks? Not so much.
The detail given to each of the characters is extraordinary, although Wolverine looks like he's aged more quickly than you would expect. Aside from the detail given to drawing the characters themselves, most of the frames look like something out of a manga, not what you would expect from a Wolverine comic.
The story works well enough to keep me interested in reading more, but I would have liked to have known what happened "on the night the heroes fell" before jumping into this story. After reading this book, I'm more interested in finding out why Wolverine has vowed never to raise his fists than if he can get the money to pay his bills. I can't say I'd necessarily recommend this book right now, but if the story shapes up it might be worth buying when the graphic novel comes out.
You can buy it here.
